it's understandable, honestly. many of the consumers are just young people crave for sexual human bodily contact yet they can't really get any of it IRL because they're too shy to deal with the ever more insane normies.  the other portion are just those said insane normies themselves who have a kink for fucking other people in sweat and grease-plastered fursuits. the artists are mostly opportunists or grifter types, though.
