Would you still be scared of talking to cashiers if they were anthro?

It would probably be even scarier.

Anyhow, here is the recommended list of phrases to keep in mind when interacting with a cashier:
>hello
>yes
>no, thank you (, I have a bag/backpack)
>cash
>I have a card
>this is a robbery
>put the money in the bag
>hands where I can see them
>yes (, I would like a coupon/sticker)
>thank you
>y-you too
>goodbye
These cover the majority of everyday scenarios. If a situation that cannot be covered by either of these is encountered, the safest bet is to pretend you've gotten an urgent phone call and flee.

i think anon meant normally you have to worry about wasting someones time to talk to them but when youre talking to an employee you know their time is already being wasted and theyre getting paid for it. thats one less rudeness to worry about putting someone through

Serious answer: to me that makes it feel even more awkward. This person is already working a miserable minimum-wage retail job and probably has some Boomer manager coming by every two or three minutes to look over her shoulder and scream in her ear that she's not moving fast enough. She already has to run the cash register, clean the bathrooms, unload the truck, and sweep the parking lot. Making her day worse and making all these other things harder for her feels wrong to me. I will find the frozen peas on my own. I will not inflict small talk on her.
Sorry but if talking to a fluffing cashier scares you then you are a retard. 9/10 times they just greet you, at most they might make a small comment about an item you purchased
